Women’s Day is always cause for celebration, and especially so when we collaborate with like-minded ladies in sharing our gifts for the greatest good of all concerned. Heartfelt thank you to Mareli Scott for inviting me to present my signature Rock That Camera session at her fabulous Authentic Women’s Day Celebration at The Graft Yard last month.
This gorgeous venue offers an “inspired workspace for entrepreneurs, consultants, freelancers, SME’s and startups” and provided the perfect place for the event. Attracting a dynamic group of women, Mareli shared her own insight about the power of authenticity, and how this has served her in her own life. Talented recording artist and Mzansi Gospel Awards Nominee Mpume Mavundla sang exquisitely for everyone and beautiful Lizelle Kachelhoffer, recently crowned 2nd Princess in the Mrs Commonwealth South Africa competition, shared the moving testimony of her own challenges and the work she is doing to uplift others. More good was also spread through the toys and teddy bears that were collected by Nicky Coleman of The Gift of Joy NPO.
It was a privilege and pleasure to contribute to helping the group embrace and celebrate their beauty, while learning how to shine on camera in their photos and videos – and also to photograph each attendee in turn so that we could provide them with a fresh profile pic that represents their best self. This interactive process incorporates vibrant feedback on the spot as our camera and computer are tethered, so that the images appear immediately on a big screen. It always catalyses excited energy, delight and often wonder, as the ladies support one another in selecting their favourite photo for processing.
