In the spirit of Spring, I have some fun and a fresh idea to share with you, inspired by my recent trip to Cape Town! I flew down for a few days to celebrate my Mom’s birthday with her, my twin sister Ruth and her family. We also spent a fabulous afternoon at the Royal Cape Yacht Club market, where my niece Jo had her NaJo’s Mexican food trailer set up.

During my trip, I also had the special treat of photographing my beautiful client Derryn Faure. We shot a selection of close-up and mid-length, indoor and outdoor photos, primarily for her LinkedIn profile and business purposes. Here are two of the pics to give you a taste.
Have you thought of booking a personal branding shoot at your home, incorporating a variety of settings such as these? The pic on the right features a living room wall as the backdrop, giving a studio-like effect with the help of great lighting.
I used a pair of portable softboxes and synced, off-camera flashes to achieve this. In the outside shot, our lighting setup highlighted Derryn’s gorgeous smile, while compensating for the relatively bright background behind her.
If you look around your home, you may find plenty of potential settings that can infuse a personal feeling for your followers, especially if you share snippets of behind-the-scenes stories from your everyday life, together with your photos.
This can all contribute to building the ‘know, like and trust’ factor for your brand. It can also work wonderfully for personal branding videos, ideally if you have a fairly spacious area to set up for filming, to create a compelling setting.
